Terms of Service for Ravelo

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Ravelo iOS application, ravelo.app website, optional account and Social features, early-access forms, support channels, diagnostics, and related services (together, the "Service").

By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Ravelo Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Ravelo is an iOS focus and time-management product. Its Time Currency system lets you earn virtual minutes through configured productive activity or focus sessions and spend virtual minutes to access apps, categories, or domains you configure as distracting.

Ravelo uses Apple's Screen Time functionality to monitor activity you select and apply restrictions through iOS. Depending on the features you choose, Ravelo may also provide notifications, Live Activities, optional accounts, cross-device sync, Social features, analytics, and subscriptions.

The features and plan terms shown in the current app at the time of use control over older marketing descriptions.

2. Eligibility and guardian permission

You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms. Ravelo account, profile, and Social features are not intended for children under 13. If you have not reached the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms where required.

You must not provide a false birth date to bypass an age restriction.

3. Productivity tool, not medical advice

Ravelo is a behavioral productivity tool. It is not medical advice, therapy, clinical treatment, diagnosis, emergency assistance, or a guaranteed cure for ADHD, phone addiction, procrastination, or any physical or mental-health condition.

Do not rely on Ravelo where app access, notifications, alarms, communications, or device availability may affect health, safety, employment, education, legal duties, or emergencies. You remain responsible for deciding which apps to restrict and for maintaining access to essential services.

4. Core use without an account

You can use Ravelo's core Screen Time and Time Currency features without creating a Ravelo account. Core configuration and activity history are primarily stored on your device.

Some online functions, such as product analytics, subscription verification, updates, diagnostics, or support, may process limited information even when you do not create a Ravelo account. See the Privacy Policy for details.

5. Optional accounts and Sign in with Apple

A Ravelo account is optional and currently uses Sign in with Apple. An account is required for features such as profiles, leaderboard participation, friendships, invite attribution, and syncing selected activity data across devices.

You are responsible for maintaining control of your Apple account and device. You must not access another person's Ravelo account or authentication credentials. Notify us if you believe your account or device session has been compromised.

We may require you to sign in again after a reinstall, account deletion, security event, expired session, or significant change to the sign-in process.

Signing out ends the account session on the current device, but does not delete the Ravelo account, Time Currency history stored on the device, or Apple subscription. Account deletion is described in Section 18.

6. Profiles, leaderboard, friends, and user content

You may choose to provide a display name, gender, birth date, expectations, and profile photo. Some profile and ranking information may be visible to other signed-in users through Social and leaderboard features, including your display name, avatar, Ravelo Index, tier, rank, percentile, weekly score change, or friendship status.

You retain ownership of profile photos, text, names, and other content you submit ("User Content"). You grant Ravelo a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, process, and display User Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, improve, and support the Service. This license ends when the content or account is deleted, except for temporary backups, legal retention, or content already independently shared by another user.

You must have the rights needed to submit User Content. User Content must not be unlawful, deceptive, abusive, threatening, hateful, sexually exploitative, privacy-invasive, infringing, impersonating, malicious, or designed to manipulate rankings or other users.

We may remove or restrict User Content, Social access, invites, or account functionality when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, comply with law, or maintain Service integrity. To report problematic Social content or conduct, contact contact@ravelo.app with enough detail for us to investigate.

Leaderboard values and ranks are product metrics, not professional, medical, academic, financial, or employment assessments. Rankings may change as data synchronizes, algorithms change, users join or leave, or errors are corrected.

7. Screen Time permissions and Apple dependencies

Ravelo needs Screen Time authorization for its core blocking and monitoring functions. You are responsible for granting, maintaining, or revoking authorization through iOS.

If authorization is denied, revoked, interrupted, or limited by iOS, Ravelo may be unable to monitor selected activity, earn minutes, apply restrictions, maintain active Time Market sessions, or work correctly.

Results can also be affected by device restarts, time-zone or clock changes, iOS updates, use on multiple devices, operating-system limits, permission changes, or reinstalling the app. Ravelo may correct affected balances or activity records when reasonably necessary.

8. Time Currency and configuration

Time Currency minutes are virtual, in-app accounting units used only inside Ravelo. They are not money, stored value, cryptocurrency, a security, a gift card, or property redeemable for cash. They cannot be withdrawn, sold, transferred between users, or exchanged outside the Service.

You are responsible for choosing productive sources, restricted targets, allowances, weekly goals, and related settings. Ravelo may credit, spend, invest, reverse, expire, pause, restore, or correct virtual minutes according to product rules, your configuration, device activity reported by iOS, and integrity safeguards.

Ravelo does not promise that a particular balance or event will be preserved forever. Local data loss, account-state changes, synchronization conflicts, operating-system behavior, corrections, or Service changes may affect records. We will not intentionally convert Time Currency into a real-money payment instrument.

9. Ravelo Platinum and subscriptions

Ravelo may offer optional paid features through Ravelo Platinum. Features may include expanded configuration, advanced analytics, Growth Contract functionality, weekly goals, themes, or other benefits shown in the app at the time of purchase.

Subscriptions and purchases are processed through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple controls billing, payment methods, taxes, refunds, cancellation, renewal, grace periods, and App Store account management. Prices and plan availability may vary by country, currency, taxes, promotions, or App Store account.

Unless Apple states otherwise, subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled through your Apple App Store account settings. Deleting Ravelo or deleting a Ravelo account does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription.

Ravelo and its service providers may verify purchase and subscription status to determine whether Platinum access is active and to restore purchases.

If Platinum becomes inactive, Ravelo may apply Free-plan limits, clear or require reselection of premium-only configurations, disable premium-only modes, end incompatible active access, or otherwise adjust local state to the currently active entitlement. The current paid period remains subject to Apple's billing and entitlement status.

Refund requests are handled by Apple under its policies. Ravelo cannot issue an App Store refund directly.

10. Syncing activity data and Social reporting

If you sign in, Ravelo may sync selected activity history and settings so your analytics can be restored across your devices and Social features can operate. The Privacy Policy explains what information is involved.

Ravelo may report your current Ravelo Index to calculate leaderboard position. A fresh or incomplete account may appear as unranked until sufficient data is available and synchronization succeeds.

You agree not to manipulate Ravelo, submit false activity, or interfere with account, Social, scoring, friendship, or invite features to create false balances, rankings, referrals, subscription access, or other advantages. Ravelo may correct or exclude data that appears invalid, duplicated, corrupted, or abusive.

11. Early access, email, and offer codes

If you submit an early-access form, you authorize Ravelo to use your email address to manage beta access, send TestFlight or release information, prevent duplicate signups, enforce capacity limits, retry requested delivery, and deliver applicable offer codes or operational release messages.

Early-access placement, beta seats, TestFlight links, release timing, launch offers, and offer codes are not guaranteed. They may be limited, delayed, revoked, changed, reassigned where unused, or discontinued.

12. Diagnostics and support

If you contact support or voluntarily send diagnostics, you authorize Ravelo to use the information you provide to investigate bugs, respond to requests, improve reliability, maintain security, and operate the Service.

Diagnostic reports may contain information about your device, app configuration, and recent Ravelo activity. Review the Privacy Policy before submitting a report, and do not send information you do not want processed for support.

Support guidance is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis and does not create a guarantee that a problem can be reproduced or fixed.

13. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, tamper with, or attempt to extract source code except where applicable law expressly permits it.
  • Circumvent subscription checks, paywalls, Free-plan limits, Screen Time enforcement, Growth Contract rules, weekly goals, or Time Currency rules.
  • Manipulate the app, your device, activity history, diagnostics, or online features to obtain unauthorized minutes, access, rankings, referrals, subscriptions, or other benefits.
  • Probe, overload, disrupt, automate abuse against, or introduce malicious code into the Service.
  • Use another person's account, scrape leaderboard/profile information, harvest personal information, or use Social features for harassment, spam, impersonation, or unlawful monitoring.
  • Abuse early-access forms, capacity controls, invite or offer codes, support channels, diagnostics, or safeguards against excessive use.
  • Use Ravelo in a way that violates law, infringes third-party rights, disrupts the Service, or harms users or third parties.

14. Ravelo intellectual property and license

Ravelo and its software, designs, text, graphics, trademarks, interfaces, algorithms, and other Service materials are owned by Ravelo or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Subject to these Terms and applicable App Store terms, Ravelo grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service on Apple devices you own or control for personal, non-commercial purposes. No other rights are granted.

Feedback you voluntarily provide may be used to improve Ravelo without restriction or compensation, but this does not transfer ownership of your pre-existing intellectual property or personal information.

15. Third-party services

Ravelo depends on Apple and other third-party services needed for app distribution, payments, online features, communications, and security. Those services may be governed by separate terms and privacy notices.

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or actions. Ravelo is not responsible for third-party content, availability, billing decisions, security, or practices outside our control.

If these Terms conflict with mandatory Apple App Store terms for your use of the iOS application, the mandatory Apple terms control to the extent of the conflict.

16. Availability and changes to the Service

Ravelo may add, change, limit, suspend, or remove features, scoring methods, Free-plan limits, Platinum benefits, pricing, Social functionality, analytics, diagnostics, early-access programs, or App Store offerings.

We may make changes in response to iOS updates, App Store requirements, security or availability issues, legal obligations, abuse, business needs, or product improvements.

We will use reasonable efforts to avoid unnecessarily disrupting paid functionality, but continued availability of a specific feature, integration, ranking method, or configuration is not guaranteed.

17. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available." Ravelo does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, compatible with every iOS version or device state, preserve every record, synchronize immediately, or block every app, category, or domain in every circumstance.

Ravelo does not guarantee any productivity, health, academic, financial, employment, behavioral, ranking, or mental-health outcome. Any examples, estimates, analytics, scores, streaks, or recommendations are informational product features, not professional advice.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

18. Termination, sign-out, and account deletion

You may stop using Ravelo or sign out at any time. We may restrict or terminate access to account, Social, early-access, diagnostic, or other online features if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created a security risk, abused the Service, or used it unlawfully.

You can initiate deletion of a Ravelo account from the in-app Account screen. Successful deletion removes the account and the profile, Social, friendship, invite, and synced activity data tied to it. Ravelo also attempts to remove the associated profile photo and disconnect Sign in with Apple.

Account deletion does not automatically:

  • Erase device-local Time Currency, configuration, or activity history.
  • Cancel an Apple subscription or delete Apple's transaction records.
  • Delete records independently retained by Apple or by services used for subscriptions, analytics, support, diagnostics, the website, early access, or email delivery.

Use in-app reset controls, iOS controls, Apple subscription management, or a privacy request as appropriate. Sections that by their nature should survive termination remain effective, including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limitations, and dispute-related provisions.

19. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ravelo and its operators, affiliates, licensors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of profits, data, productivity, opportunities, or goodwill; missed deadlines or communications; device or subscription issues; incorrect balances or rankings; or failure of Screen Time functionality or third-party services arising from or related to the Service.

Some jurisdictions do not allow particular exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. These Terms do not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

20. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when the Service, providers, business model, or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice where required. Material changes apply prospectively unless law requires otherwise.

Your continued use after updated Terms become effective means you accept them. If you do not accept an update, stop using the Service and cancel any subscription through Apple if desired.

21. General terms

If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective and the invalid provision will be enforced to the maximum lawful extent. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; Ravelo may assign them as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, or transfer of the Service, subject to applicable law.

These Terms are the agreement between you and Ravelo concerning the Service, together with any mandatory App Store terms and policies expressly incorporated by reference. They do not reduce non-waivable rights available under applicable consumer law.
